Alternative Provision & EOTAS Support

Supporting children who need a different approach

At Rainbow Hands, we understand that not every child can access learning in a traditional school environment.

Some children and young people may experience barriers such as anxiety, autism, ADHD, trauma, sensory differences, communication difficulties, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), or other additional needs which make attending school difficult.

Our Alternative Provision and EOTAS support provides a personalised, relationship-based approach that focuses on helping children feel safe, understood and able to engage with the world around them.

Every child is different, and we believe support should reflect that.

What is EOTAS?

Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) is provision arranged through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) when a child or young person cannot reasonably attend a school setting, even with additional support.

EOTAS packages are often made up of several different services working together to meet a child's individual needs.

Rainbow Hands can form part of an EOTAS package by providing personalised support that promotes engagement, communication, confidence, independence and participation in everyday life.

Our Approach

We know that meaningful progress starts with trust.

Many of the children we support have experienced difficulties within educational settings, have lost confidence, or are finding the demands of everyday life overwhelming.

Our focus is on building positive relationships and creating an environment where children feel comfortable enough to explore, engage and develop at their own pace.

For some children, progress may initially look like:

  • Entering a new environment

  • Building trust with a new adult

  • Sharing a space with another person

  • Communicating a need or preference

  • Trying a new activity

  • Accessing the community

  • Managing transitions

  • Developing confidence and independence

These small steps often form the foundations for wider learning and personal development.
