Our Services
At Rainbow Hands, we believe every child deserves care that celebrates who they are.
Our support is flexible, inclusive and tailored to each child’s unique strengths, challenges and personality. We work with children with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, global developmental delay, Down syndrome, brain injury, physical disabilities, and complex medical or sensory profiles.
Whether your family needs time to rest, support with daily routines, or consistent specialist care, we provide a calm, nurturing environment focused on safety, connection and emotional wellbeing.
π Respite Care and Short Breaks(Non-Overnight)
Families deserve time to rest and recharge. Our respite sessions provide safe, reliable care in a warm and engaging environment where children can relax, play and feel comfortable.
Each session is tailored to your child’s individual needs, including medical requirements, routines, communication style and preferences. We focus on building trust and familiarity so children feel secure, and parents feel confident leaving them in our care.
Support can take place in the home, within our setting, or out in the community depending on what works best for your child.
𧩠Specialist Childcare and Support
We provide specialist childcare for children with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, Down syndrome, brain injury, developmental delay and complex health or mobility needs.
Our approach combines structure with flexibility. We use sensory tools, visual supports, communication strategies and adaptive equipment where needed, ensuring every child can take part safely and meaningfully.
Care is adapted in real time to suit the child’s needs, recognising that no two days are the same.
π Emotional and Behavioural Support
We understand that behaviour is a form of communication.
Using calm, consistent and relationship-based approaches, we support children to express their emotions safely and develop self-regulation skills over time. We focus on reducing anxiety, understanding triggers and creating a predictable environment where children feel safe.
Support is always adapted to each child’s communication style and level of understanding, helping to build confidence, trust and resilience.
πΊοΈ Alternative Provision and Home Learning Support (SEND & SEMH)
We offer personalised Alternative Provision and 1:1 support for children who are unable to access or thrive within a traditional school environment.
This includes children who are:
-
Out of school or on reduced timetables
-
Experiencing school-related anxiety or refusal
-
Home educated
-
Accessing EOTAS or alternative arrangements
Support is not tutoring, but a gentle, structured approach focused on:
-
Rebuilding engagement
-
Reducing anxiety
-
Supporting emotional regulation
-
Developing confidence and independence
Sessions are interest-led, low-demand and adapted to each child. Support can take place in the child’s home, our setting or within the community.
Direct payments and self-funding are accepted.
π§ Learning and Development Support
Every child learns in their own way. We support development through play-based, sensory-rich and interest-led activities, tailored to each child’s ability and pace.
This may include:
-
Communication and interaction skills
-
Fine and gross motor development
-
Independence and daily living skills
-
Social understanding and confidence
Progress is measured in meaningful, individual ways, with a focus on engagement, wellbeing and small but important steps forward.
π Community Access and Outings
We support children to access their community safely and confidently.
This may include quiet park visits, sensory-friendly environments, local activities or short trips tailored to your child’s needs and tolerance levels. All outings are carefully planned, risk assessed and supported 1:1 where needed.
The aim is to build confidence, independence and positive experiences outside of the home.
π€ Family Collaboration and Advocacy
We recognise families as key partners in care.
We work closely with parents, carers and professionals to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach. This includes sharing updates, adapting support as needs change, and ensuring everyone involved understands the child’s needs.
We can also provide advocacy and guidance, including:
-
Attending meetings
-
Liaising with schools and professionals
-
Supporting families to navigate SEND, education and health systems
Our aim is to ensure families feel informed, supported and confident in the care their child receives.
